How To Choose The Right Inserts Templates
Choosing the right inserts templates can be a little bit tricky, especially when you are new to this whole custom inserts printing business. There is no ONE template. There are several different kinds of inserts templates that have different sizes, configurations and formats. So if you really want to choose the right kind of template for your use in your insert designs, you must know the right kinds of aspects an insert template must have.
In this guide to developing marketing inserts, I will help you solve your decision making problems by teaching you the different aspects of inserts printing that you must know about. There should be no problems picking the right kind of inserts once you already know and understand these aspects of printing inserts.
• What is the right size for you? – The initial thing that you must look at for inserts templates is the size. Size does matter for inserts since you will want to have inserts that fit snugly and properly into its parent medium. So make sure you decide WHERE you will be putting your inserts before actually starting to design them. The smallest dimension you could probably find would be a quarter of a lette- sized insert template at 4.25 inches by 5.5 inches. Large inserts will come at 33 inches by 11 inches or even more. Just pick the right dimension that should fit properly for your inserts printing.
• Getting the proper file format – Next, you may want to watch out for the file format. Especially for the newcomers out there, you will need to download a template with the right file format that you can use. Not all templates will be compatible with your desktop publishing application. So be careful and only download the templates that you can use. For Microsoft Publisher, the native format is .pub, while for Adobe InDesign it should be “.indd”. Just refer to your publishing software application’s guide to know which kind of file formats it can use as a template.
• Getting the proper type of insert template – Now be sure as well that you are downloading the right kind of inserts templates. There are many different inserts and you might encounter different ones that you can or cannot use. Always try to figure out what exactly what you need and what you can download. There are insert templates that are like flyers, some are like brochures, some are small booklets others are catalog type inserts.
So chose carefully and see what configuration those insert templates are in. Is it a single page template? Does it have multiple pages? Is it in a wide format dimension? Or is it a thin layout? Make sure that you pick the right one for your purposes so that you won’t waste time in changing those elements for inserts printing.
•Getting the right professional template – Finally, you should always try to get templates with a professional mark, or have come directly from professional inserts designers. You will want this simply because you will need to maintain a good and current theme and quality with your color inserts. So only download insert templates from reliable sources to make sure that they maintain its professional layout quality.
