Why can’t I screw into my tile floor?
I’m trying to install a pedestal sink, and I need to screw it down to the floor. I predrilled with no problems using the 1/4″ carbide bit (the tiles are ceramic).
Now it’s time to ratchet in the lag screw, and it just won’t catch. The original 5/16″ screw just spun and spun until the threads wore out. I bought another 5/16 and a 3/8″ screw, but those won’t catch either.
I don’t have access underneath to use a bolt. What should I do?

You can’t screw into tile. Expand your hole in the tile to larger than your fastener. Then just pop a screw into the subfloor to hold the pedestal sink down. Use a washer on the screw if needed. I never screw pedestal sinks to the floor anyways so I’m not sure what brand you’re using. Usually you’ll just lay a bead of silicone around the base to hold it in place. The sink itself will screw and silicone to the wall so it will prevent movement.
