Gibbs and Associates grants over 0,000 in software and services for Northern Alberta Institute of Technology

Gibbs and Associates, developer of GibbsCAM? software programming tools and CNC machines Cimatron company, announced today that it has granted Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT), a network license of twenty squares of GibbsCAM software and library of the target processor that, when combined with first-year maintenance, which also granted, is valued at nearly $ 510,000. The software includes functionality to open the CAD models of their native file formats, edit and prepare CAD models for machining, and generate, control, simulation and post-processing pathways of CNC milling up to 4-axis rotary milling, and multi-axis rotation. Be used for CAD / CAM, CNC programming, and the kinds of rote learning and training at the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Technology NAIT, and continuing education classes only GibbsCAM, the first of which will be offered in April 2011.
“We are very grateful to Gibbs for their generous support,” said David Grabski, Associate Chair, NAIT Machinist program. “GibbsCAM will provide our instructors the option to teach CNC programming a system that is well supported locally and has a reputation for ease of use demonstrated. It will help in the programming of our centers and multi-axis machining turning centers with live tooling Twin-screw in the verification and machine simulation are more important. “
NAIT Program Engineer, one of the largest in North America, is carried out within 31 square meters, NAIT Sandvik Coromant Centre of Technology engineer who has three rooms of machines, a CNC lab, two laboratories computer, five classrooms, “smart”, and metrology / inspection laboratory. It employs about 200 machine tools, including 24 conventional milling machines and 83 conventional lathes, and has the capacity to train 1,820 students a year. The center offers an apprenticeship program for four years (responsible for approximately 70% of Alberta drivers training, apprenticeship), full time CNC program one-year certificate and two programs of pre-employment driver. In the center of their programs of 36 CNC Machining, all made by Haas Automation. These include lathes, turning centers, turning centers twin screw and vertical machining centers and horizontal.
