Lathe $86.03 A lathe is a machine tool which spins a block of material to perform various operations such as cutting, sanding, knurling, drilling, or deformation with tools that are applied to the workpiece to create an object which has symmetry about an axis of rotation. Lathes are used in woodturning, metalworking, metal spinning, and glassworking. Lathes can be used to shape pottery, the bestknown design being the potters wheel. Most suitably equipped metalworking lathes can also be used to produce most solids of revolution, plane surfaces and screw threads or helices. Ornamental lathes can produce threedimensional solids of incredible complexity. The material can be held in place by either one or two centers, at least one of which can be moved horizontally to accommodate varying material lengths. Crown Saver? Lathe Center Cover Small Crown Saver 10-Pak $29.99 These brass cones take much of the anxiety out of lathe-turning a perfectly good barrel with an already finished crown. Insert a Crown Saver between the muzzle and lathe or mill center before fluting chambering polishing or threading for a muzzle brake and you can rest assured you won’t harm the rifling or ding the crown. Each brass cone is machined to within .0002" or less concentricity making using a Crown Saver as accurate as direct barrel contact against the center.
