What is the penalty/fine for driving on suspension in Utah?

I had my license suspended because I got cited for driving without proof of insurance. I sent in my fee to get my license reinstated so I thought I was okay, but I guess they hadn’t gotten it yet; long story short I got pulled over by some bored cops in Saratoga Springs and they gave me a citation for driving on Suspension. I was going to fight it but I’m enlisting in the Air Force and I just need to get everything cleared up right now. Does anyone know what the penalty or fine is for this if I just plead no contest? I’m going before the judge on Wednesday (tomorrow).

I’m not a lawyer so you’re likely better off asking a lawyer. Here’s what I know:

Pleading No Contest has the same effect as saying “Your Honor, you guys are right, I’m not going to even fight it”.
What you’re saying is: “No lo contendere”. I won’t fight it. You got me dead to rights.. so throw the book at me.

If what you say is true, I would think that a reasonable judge should empathize/sympathize with your situation. If you did what you say you did.. then this would likely be reduced to something else.

You don’t want the conviction on your record of driving on suspended… it’s not good. Some states have mandatory sentences for varying offenses. Make sure that driving on suspended ain’t one of them.

Anyhoo..I’d get my facts and proof together..and go explain to a judge what happened, by first stating that I don’t believe to be guilty of this charge because…1, 2, 3, 4…

I would Explain any mitigating or exculpatory circumstances..and then see what happens.
