VW Poly ‘Dogbone’ Inserts?
I read alot about poly dogbone inserts for 1.8 Ts….would they be worth it in a 2.0L?
I have to assume that the 2.0 liter motor you’re talking about is the non turbo motor; if it is, then, I do not recommend replacement of the “dog bone” with the poly inserts unless they are inexpensive or you can live with the harness caused by a stiffer mount.
The 2.0 liter motor is not a smooth running motor; by design the mounts are somewhat soft to absorb the vibrations that are generated by the engine so that you don’t feel the roughness.
If you have a earlier model that has an adjustable idle, then, perhaps it might work for you as you can alter the idle speed a bit to find the smoothest operating rpm. In a later model vehicle that is a “drive by wire” model, you cannot alter the idle speed easily; the vibration that you’d get would probably be excessive.
Keep in mind that the 2.0 non turbo motor is not a performance enigne and is designed to be economical and “smooth” and any imprrovements in performance probably cannot be “felt.”
