Pokemon tips again! I need some help with my pokemon Diamond team, starters and pokemon to catch ect?
Just starting pokemon diamond, could you give me some tips on what pokemon to get please? Thanks (:
Monferno isn’t. When Chimchar evolves at level 14 into Monferno (Infernape at level 36) you can let Monferno learn Mach Punch. Mach Punch is a fighting type attack with 40 base power, 100% accuracy, and 30 PP. This move has a +1 priority, meaning it will always go first unless a Pokemon with a higher speed then monferno uses another +1 priority move or a Pokemon uses a +2 or more priority move which will go before Monferno. There are no damaging moves that have a higher priority then +1. Rock types like Geodude, Onix, and Rampardos, are all weak against fighting type attacks, and thus, Monferno will OWN that gym. Of course, if you’re worried, there’s always budew which can be found on route 204.
Other good Pokemon:
Budew-(happiness +level up in day time) Roselia- (shiny stone) Roserade (grass/poison)
Roserade is an excellent grass type Pokemon with high special attack, special defense, and speed it makes an excellent special sweeper. It is also a good healer, capable of healing itself with moves like leech seed and Giga Drain, while it can heal your team’s status conditions with Aroma Therapy. It can also lay down toxic spikes, a move that is good for battles with gym leaders/members of the elite four.

-toxic spikes/another attacking move
Starly-(level 15) staravia-(level 34) Staraptor (normal/flying)
Staraptor makes an excellent Pokemon to take the flying HM off your hands. It has high attack, high speed, and decent defense, it’ll be an invaluable asset to your team. I’ve played Pearl (diamond’s counterpart) 3 times and Platinum (the third game in the sinnoh series) once and each time Staraptor has been on my team. I can highly recommend this bird.
suggested moves:
-Fly (HM)
-brave bird (level 49)
-Close Combat (level 34 staraptor, when it evolves)
-Quick Attack (should learn as a starly or a staravia)
Magikarp-(level 20) Gyarados (water/flying)
This thing is BEAST! I used this on my pearl team and it swept Cynthia’s ENTIRE team all by itself when it was underleveled. It used Rain dance and then dragon dance twice and it was able to KO easily with waterfall and ice fang. My suggested moves to you:
-Waterfall (HM)
-Ice Fang (level up)
-Dragon Dance (level up)
-Rain Dance (level up)

Riolu- (level up when reaches a high level of happiness) Lucario (steel/fighting)
Lucario is a beastly sweeper, capable of attacking well on both sides of the spectrum (physical and special) You get riolu in egg form after helping Riley on Iron Island. If you hatch that egg and take the time to train that Riolu making it happy so it will evolve into Lucario, you wont be sorry. Lucario is a powerful Pokemon and will be a valuable addition to your team.

-Aura Sphere (level 37)
-Metal Claw (level 1, requires heart scale to learn)
-Dark Pulse (level 1, requires heart scale to learn)
-Dragon Pulse (level 47)
-Close Combat (level 42)
-Extreme Speed (level 51)
(I know that’s more then 4, but if you cant get two heart scales to help Lucario learn Metal claw and dark pulse then go with Aura Sphere, Dragon Pulse, Close Combat, and Extreme Speed)

Shinx – (level 15) Luxio – (level 30) Luxray (electric)
One of the best electric types you easily have access to. Although it doesn’t have that great of a movepool, its ok to use in game. Plus, it looks pretty cool and has access to intimidate/rivalry. Shinx can be found on one of the earliest routes, route 202.
Suggested moves:
-Spark (should learn as a luxio around level 18)
-Crunch (level 35 luxray)
-Discharge (level 55 luxray)
-Strength (HM)

Gible – (level 24) Gabite – (level 48) Garchomp (dragon/ground)
This Pokemon is an excellent physical attacker with amazing bulk too. It is by far one of your best options when it comes to using a ground type.

-Earthquake (via tm 26)
-Dig (if you cant get the TM earthquake)
-Dragon Claw (level 33 gabite)
-Dragon Rush (high level Garchomp)
-Slash (level up)/Brick Break (TM)
-Crunch (level 48)
