Carbide Bearings- Essential Material of Industrialized Nations
Carbide bearings are durable industrial tools that are used in various industrial sectors to ease the running of different machines. They reduce friction between a rotating and a non-rotating piece.
Carbide Bearing Types
Of all the different types of bearings available in the market, those made from stainless steel and iron is the most widely used. Those made from tungsten carbide are used in places where there is a huge requirement of heavy duty bearings that have to run for a long time.
Generally carbide bearings come in three parts- the race (the innermost part), the rollers (ball bearings and needles) and the carrier (the outermost part). The carrier is the part that contains the rollers. Most of the times, you would find that the bearings are designed with a space in them so that they can hold lubricants like grease. Apart from the round ones, flat bearings are also available that that are mainly used in engines. The bearings made from carbide are widely used because they are highly durable. Carbide bearings have the ability to withstand extreme temperature conditions and high thrust loads. You can even get grades that can be formulated to resist corrosion and abrasion, and to stand up to wear and heavy shock.
Customized Carbide Bearings
Nowadays, you can get customized carbide bearings that are made as per your individual needs or as per specific industry need. There are manufacturers that can produce products ranging from prototypes to high volume production bearings. Recently, plain bearings made from silicon carbide that is great for use in dry running magnetic drive pumps. They help the pumps to survive during dry runs so that it doesn’t suffer any damage at least till the error is taken care of. The advantage of using these bearings is same with that of Tungsten Carbide i.e. they are resistant to corrosion and high temperature. This facilitates for their use with hot and abrasive delivery media. Low manufacturing costs adds to the many reasons for its wide popularity. Additionally, to get the best from these pumps, make sure that you use the right valve trim varieties.
Whatever variety of carbide bearings you use, just make sure that these are lubricated properly, so that you can get rotating parts that are best to reduce friction and wear and tear. If you are not sure about the kind of product you require just make a call to the supplier you are ordering from and rest assured all competent suppliers have the required technical team to offer you guidance on the same. The one we’ve had made cuts a 1⁄4" wide dovetail just right for sight inserts and the finished product is very precise.
